Well, folks, we've officially made it to the West Coast!! It is not the end of our trip, however. We will continue biking for a few days as well as take a few days off to enjoy the area.

Today we biked south along Hwy. 1 from Sunset State Beach to Monterey. We biked through a lot of vegetable fields (artichokes, lettuce, cabbage) and got turned around at one point. We took a quick break near Moss Landing to look at some sea lions. Eventually, we had to get off of Hwy. 1 and get on a bike path. The bike path took us all the way to Monterey. Our whole ride was about 33 miles, 10 of which were on the bike path.

We had some gorgeous views of the Pacific as we got closer to Monterey. When we pulled up to wharf 2 in Monterey, we saw Margie waving to us (she and her family picked Michelle up near Marble Canyon, Arizona). Her daughter, Ellie, was attending kayak camp there, so they were able to give us a ride back to their house in Carmel Valley.

Their house is tucked away near some hills and is full of green plant life. The area is beautiful and their home is so cozy! We felt comfortable right away. After showering and chatting for awhile, we walked to a nearby market to pick up a few snacks.

For dinner, we had some delicious chicken with rosemary and corn-on-the-cob.
