It was really hard to say goodbye this morning to Margie, Jason, Ellie, and Ashley. Margie sent us off with full bellies; she made us delicious pancakes for breakfast. We decided to continue biking from where we left off, so we had Margie drive us back to Monterey.

Even though it was a bit chilly and foggy, we enjoyed the ride along the bike path. When the path ended, we got on Hwy. 1 and went inland a bit to Watsonville. It was a few miles out of our way to actually go through the city, but we decided to go because we were in today's newspaper!! A few days back, we had been interviewed at the Watsonville Public Library and today was our day of fame! We stopped by a convenient store with a newspaper vending machine to pick up a few copies. We were so surprised to find ourselves on the 2nd page in full color! You can find the online version of the article here:

We left Watsonville and headed to Santa Cruz. Emily had been thinking about an awesome vegetarian restaurant that she ate at a few years ago. We found out it was called Saturn Cafe and we biked directly there. The food was sooooo yummy!

After eating, we headed to Santa Vida RV Park. It was about 3.5 miles from the downtown area. They said that they were full, but offered us a patch of grass for $30. Without any other choice, we accepted, but complained about the high rate. We weren't using any water/electricity, the pool was closed, and the showers were coin-operated. Needless to say, we only ended up staying here one night instead of the planned two.
