When we woke up this morning, we were greeted with a little fog and mist. The sort of dreary conditions did not get us down though. We want to enjoy and make the most of our last two days. Today's ride was about 26 miles along Hwy. 1. We headed north to Half Moon Bay. The mist definitely made it a bit chilly, but we ran into a few other cyclists also toughing it out (although they were all headed south and had a more favorable wind).

Once we reached Half Moon Bay, we stopped at a local coffee shop for lunch. We ate some chili, a quesdilla, a samosa, and bagel sandwiches. Before heading to the campground, we also stopped at the grocery store to buy our final snacks. We got all of our favorites: peanut butter M&M's, Ritz Baked Chips, a king-sized Symphony chocolate bar, diet soda, and mint Oreo's (sounds healthy, huh?) Soon we'll have start thinking about what we're eating, but for now, anything's fair game :)

The hike-and-bike campground at Half Moon Bay is located at Francis Beach. The area for hikers and bikers is really big compared to Sunset State Beach. The showers are coin-operated, but they had plenty of them and $.25 gave almost 3 minutes worth of hot water. Michelle and Emily took a stroll down the beach; it was gorgeous despite the overcast. chilly conditions.

Tonight we had our last supper. We had a "gourmet" meal of instant alfredo pasta with canned tomatoes. Of course, it filled our bellies, but I think this is one thing we won't miss once we're off the road. We also met a lot of other bikers staying here at the campground. 'Tis the season for bicycle touring...especially along the Pacific Coast!
