On March 17th, the three of us were reunited in the wee hours of the morning. After catching up on some much needed sleep, we packed our panniers, attached them to our bikes, and went for a 30-mile ride from Railroad Square in Tallahassee. We were able to follow the St. Mark's Trail for a bit, but unfortunately, part of it was under construction. After the ride, we stopped by Krank It Up and worked on our bikes. Emily replaced her pedals and adjusted her brakes. Michelle put on a front rack and Rebekah just misplaced her waterbottle several times!

We are trying to go for a ride every other day. So after our 30-mile ride, the next day was enjoyed with a leisurely 5-mile stroll through Tom Brown park (and Emily worked her butt off at Cabo's restaurant).

Today we were due for another bike ride. We decided to go to the Georgia/Florida state line. It was about 16 miles one-way for a round trip of 34 miles. The three of us each had all four panniers on, plus sleeping pads/tents on top of the back rack. With every ride and every extra piece of gear, we are feeling more confident and excited about the journey ahead of us.

On another note, we've already met so many other friendly bikers. Every time we go out, we get plenty of honks from passing cars (which is not a nice thing to do, but a bit flattering). The best part though is seeing fellow cyclists and exchanging a few words. Just when we were leaving Railroad Square for our 30-mile ride, we met Mack and Sara. These two ladies met on a past transamerica bike trip and are currently headed up the east coast. You can read more about Sara here. We sure hope our paths will cross again in the future!
