The hills, that is. We have had enough! Even though we are starting to feel stronger every day, we are ready for a break from all of these steep climbs. We had no idea that Missouri was going to be so darn hilly!

Today was definitely a tough day. We got an early start, but took a lot of little breaks. The hills today weren't any steeper than other hills, but the weather made it worse. We've gotten used to cool, overcast days, but today was hot and sunny. We all felt weaker than usual, but tried to stay extra-hydrated and take frequent breaks.

We had a wonderful lunch break in Ash Grove, MO. We found a little restaurant on Main Street called Mama Loca's Cafe and Cantina. The owners introduced themselves and told us about their friends who also biked across America (except they did it with two young children...one of whom was still being potty-trained).

We biked the last 7 miles to Everton at a surprisingly quick pace. We had to go a mile or two outside of town to reach our destination: Running Spring Farm. This place is a sort of lodge for hunters, but they have hosted lots of bikers over the years since they are so close to the trans-Am route. It has an outdoors-y, rustic feel. We are now watching some TV with our legs up, relaxing before our long day tomorrow.
