We were hoping for a break in the winds, but no such luck. As soon as we woke up and stepped out of our tents, we knew we'd be in for another tough day. We packed up, ate oatmeal, and got on the road a little bit later than usual (we only planned to go 38 miles to Newton).

Once again, we took turns leading and drafting to be as efficient as possible. We barely averaged 10 or 11 mph, but made slow progress. There weren't any services (or towns) between Cassoday and Newton, so we only took 2 short breaks to munch on some trail mix.

When we arrived in Newton, we asked someone where the library was. Once we found it, we spent some time thawing out our chilled digits, checked our email, the weather forecasts, and searched for the best restaurants in town.

After we used up our one hour of free internet, we headed over to the local organic food store. We all tried the vegan chili which was amazing! It warmed us up and tasted so good. The lady working there, Carol Sue, was the wife of the local bike repairman in town. She gave us some great information about the area and even directed us to the rec center where we were able to shower for free.

After those free showers, we went to Athletic Park for free camping. Our ears were entertained by the loudspeakers, blasting music and annoucements from the local football game. Since we've been eating out a lot lately, we decided to cook dinner. We enjoyed another instant rice meal and added some canned veggies to get a few more nutrients.
