Today was yet another windy day. This time the gusts were a little less strong, but still enough to exhaust us. We biked 50 miles from Newton to Nickerson. By the time we arrived in Nickerson, everything was closed. We were lucky enough to get into the only grocery store to pick up a few items before it closed at 4pm. Since it was Sunday, the library, pizza place, cafe, bar & grill, and post office were all closed already. We asked for directions to the city park and were disappointed that there weren't any showers. We were even more disappointed when we found out that even the toilets were locked! A free place to camp is always nice, but a toilet is a bit of a necessity when you're camping in the middle of the city. Luckily, we discovered a 24-hour convenience store up the road. We took full advantage; we bought snacks there, cleaned up a little in the bathroom sink, played cards, charged our phones, and came back later to eat dessert. The winds were still making things chilly, so it was nice to take shelter in the store for awhile.
