Today we had a shorter day of about 30 miles. The route was completely flat, but that meant the winds affected us quite a bit. We stopped at the Oasis Campground, which is just outside the boundaries of Great Sand Dunes National Park. We were afraid there wouldn't be any camping inside the park (the reservable sites were full and we were a bit late for the first-come, first-serve). Seeing that it's Memorial Day weekend, things are packed. Originally, we thought we'd look around the park today, but we are going to save that for tomorrow. Michelle has been feeling a bit under the weather, so we plan to take tomorrow as a day of rest. Unfortunately, that means this will be our last day with Mark. He has to keep biking to stay on schedule to get to Moab, Utah in time to see his aunt and uncle there. Thanks to Mark we were able to get some great photos of all three of us together on the road (check out the week 8 album). We spent the rest of the day reading and relaxing in the lounge. We ate dinner at the restaurant located here (the only thing in the vicinity). The food was average, but filled our bellies. For dessert, we decided to get the most for our money and buy a whole pie instead of a slice each. The only whole pie that was left was mixed berry flavor, but that was more than okay with all us of. We each enjoyed eating our 1/4 of the pie before bed!
