Today Mark woke up at 5:30 am to start biking, however us girls needed our beauty sleep, and opted to start the day a little later. The winds were still quite strong, but we thought they would die down. We packed up our gear and headed out. At the beginning, the wind was bearable. We made it 20 miles to a small town called Mosca where we stopped in at the convenience store. We got a snack and asked for the best directions to our destination, Del Norte, approximately 25 miles away. We started up again, but by then the winds seemed to have tripled in strength. We were swerving all over the road and getting caught in sandstorms. We turned west and discovered we couldn't possibly bike any further, as it was too dangerous with the strength of the headwind.
We decided to turn around and go back to Hooper, about 8 miles away, where we knew the campground was nice and had Wi-Fi. So sadly, not much progress was made today, but the winds made it almost impossible. We spent the rest of the day planning the next part of our trip, booking accommodation for some national parks and the Grand Canyon.
