Day 7: HOT-lanta
Posted by the girls on Sunday, April 10, 2011
This morning we were served an amazing breakfast by Nancy. It was more-than-pleasant to be awaken by the aromas of homemade biscuits, grits, apple juice, and cantaloupe. Once again, we ate our fill and had a nice chat with Nancy. She is one of the proudest grandma's we've ever met. She packed up some leftover brownies for each of us, said our prayer for our safety, and sent us on our way to Atlanta.

Thank you so very much to Will & Nancy for all of their hospitality. Our stay was the epitome of "short and sweet." We hope to see you both of you again in the future!
Our route was beautiful (thanks to Will). We were able to see a lot of residential areas (as opposed to farms, farms, and more farms). Our legs were tired from the day before, so any incline was much-dreaded. The weather was beautiful in the morning, but got a bit too hot in the afternoon (HOT-lanta was living up to her name).
At about mile 44, Emily suddenly stopped pedaling. One of the links on her chain was broken, so she could no longer bike. We tried our best to repair it, but had no luck. Since we were close to Atlanta, we called Rebekah's aunt Jenny to come to the rescue. Jenny drove Emily and her bike to a bike shop on the Silver Comet Trail and had it repaired. Meanwhile, Rebekah and Michelle finished up the last 20 miles, bringing the day's total up to 64.
At Jenny's house, we enjoyed a tasty dinner of spaghetti, pizza, and salad. Yummmmmmmmmmmm! Thanks, Jenny!!
