Day 94: Carson City
Posted by the girls on Wednesday, July 6, 2011
Today was a day off in Carson City. Our number one priority was to get Michelle's bicycle fixed. Our CouchSurfer, Mike, made us some awesome blueberry pancakes for breakfast. After eating, we stuffed Michelle and Rebekah's bikes into Mike's car and drove to Bike Smith bike shop. Even though they were really busy, they said they'd be able to squeeze our bicycles into their schedule.
In the late morning, Mike, Michelle, and Rebekah drove to Lake Tahoe while Emily stayed home to rest. She woke up feeling a little better, but knew that spending a lot of time in the sun would not help her recover any quicker. The other three went to a beach on the east side of the lake called Sand Harbor. It started out very pleasant in the shade, but turned out to be a hot day as soon as the sun was directly overhead in the afternoon.
The day was spent lounging in the sand, jumping off rocks into the chilly lake, and eating burritos at a little place called T's Rotisserie (amazingly delicious and cheap). Then it was time to head back to Carson and get the bikes (which were finished after only a few hours).
Since Mike had BBQ-ed for us the night before, we decided it was our time to cook. After picking up some ingredients at Trader Joe's, Rebekah made two yummy white Tuscan pizzas (a white-bean sauce pizza with garlic, basil, tomatoes, blue cheese). Another one of Mike's friends, Johhny, joined us for dinner and games. We started out with a bit of Jenga and then later played an intense game of Scrabble, when Mike's other friend, Johnson, arrived (we played with three teams of two people). It turned out that Mike and Michelle were the champions.
We wrapped up the night by eating some pumpkin pie with Cool Whip that Johnny had brought over. Mmmmmhmmmm!
