Day 98: Leaving Tahoe
Posted by the girls on Saturday, July 9, 2011
Today was our final day in Tahoe. We woke up and went to breakfast with Dan and Loula at the Wildflower Cafe in Incline Village. The food was so good and the portions were huge. We all left feeling too-stuffed, but of course, satisfied.
We had planned on taking the bus back to Carson City, but Dan and Loula offered to drive us. We have been so lucky to have received rides from Mike, Dan, and Loula....thanks so much guys!!
Once back in Carson City, it was time to run errands. First, we pumped up our tires, lubed our chains, and took our bikes for a little spin. Immediately, Michelle noticed that her bike was NOT fixed, even though we had just taken it into the shop a few days prior. Luckily, she saved her receipt. So, she and Emily went back there to have it re-repaired.
All the girls met up at Wal-Mart to buy our usual supplies. We bought ice cream, so we had to bike back to Mike's house very quickly so it wouldn't melt. We put away our new supplies, ate some lunch, and threw in a load of laundry. Then it was time to plan and re-route. We now feel pretty confident about our itinerary for the next week or two! We've decided to head down the valley to get to Yosemite, instead of biking right along the edge of the Sierra Nevadas. We'll avoid a few climbs, but starting tomorrow, we have to start climbing Carson Pass (our last real big one). Whoooohooooooo! The end of our trip is truly becoming a reality...
